Project Title: Development of a sustainable integrated management program for ambrosia beetles as pests of woody ornamental
Investigator(s): Peter B. Schultz , C. Ranger (USDA), M. Redding (USDA), J. Oliver (TSU)
Project Summary:
A technique has been developed that rapidly induces attacks of woody ornamentals by ambrosia beetles. This is being exploited to develop a trap tree strategy for detecting and managing these wood-boring pests. The technique is additionally being utilized to induce attacks to trees treated with conventional and reduced risk insecticides and repellents.
