Cropping Systems and Organic Production
Overview
Led by Assistant Professor Joshua Mott, our research program explores innovative and sustainable agricultural practices with a strong emphasis on supporting farmers in their transition to USDA Certified Organic production. Through hands-on Extension initiatives—including workshops, practical tools, and personalized guidance—we help producers implement effective crop rotations, weed management, and livestock integration.
Our core research areas include:
- Agronomic and Horticultural Cropping Systems
- Nutrient Use Efficiencies
- Controlled Environment Agriculture
- Organic Production
The Southern Piedmont AREC currently has 16 acres of certified organic land, with plans to increase organic production. Please check back for updates!
