Soils and Nutrient Management

Dr. Mark Reiter and his team investigate economical and sustainable soil quality and fertility programs for vegetable, grain and oilseed crops throughout the Commonwealth.

Plant Pathology

Dr. Douglas Higgins focuses on generating disease management recommendations for vegetable and small grain growers in Virginia. Higgins’s research includes the optimization of pesticides applications, disease diagnostics and early detection, and advancement of novel disease management tactics for specialty and small grain crops.

Weed Science

Dr. Vijay Singh is fostering Virginia agriculture by developing innovative and sustainable weed management solutions for row crop and vegetable growers.

Entomology

Dr. Tom Kuhar's research interests include biological control, ecology, integrated pest management, and insecticide resistance management strategies.
